This is the first of many, Mother Medicine.
This is an introduction.
Mother Medicine came to be from my own personal initiation into motherhood. During my transition from maiden to mother, I received many spiritual insights, what I call downloads. The downloads arrived in the form of artistic expressions, imaging, words and felt sense, greeting my consciousness like a divine message.
In the first years of breastfeeding, infancy and into toddlerhood, I’d write the cosmic medicine of these messages down in my notes or record them via audio. Overtime, they mostly became audio notes while driving, on a hike, cooking or in the spaces between. Often, they reach me in life while doing, where I gather the beginning of the message and come back later to it to recall it in its fullness. Sometimes, I can whisk away to my computer or notebook and channel the energetic medicine in the moment. Though, I am human and there are times when I miss taking in the messages, drifting into sleep or I simply forget to jot it down. I know they are not lost, however. I know someone else will receive them and offer its medicine to the world.
While receiving downloads is not unfamiliar to me, an experience happening since childhood, it was in motherhood that the messages carried into my heart the medicinal and healing wisdom to and for the journey of motherhood.
When the downloads arrive is sporadic and unknown. In the beginning, I found that when I thought about them at length or tried to create a humanly container to hold or call them in, like the wind, they dispersed. It became apparent that I was simply a vessel, or a messenger, a medial to transport the medicine greeting me, to compassionately feel, collect and then offer its goodness to others.
At first, I formulated differing platforms to try on how I might share this with the world. I thought I would write a book. Indeed, I actually did. It is not published. I sit with its medicine still, taking in all it has to provide. I am unsure how the book I wrote will unfold just yet. Then, I dabbled with a social media “page” to share this wisdom. It didn’t resonate.
Alas, in creating Medicine for the Soul, my Sustack community, a hub for the alchemical movement of healing, trauma/shadow integration, nervous system support, parenting and motherhood, and rekindling personal and collective agency, Mother Medicine, found a home.
I chose the name Mother Medicine because it is clear. It is about the Mother and the medicine to and of the Mother. The name offers a direct awareness that is precise, as that is often what the downloads feel like. They are a clearing, a cleansing and a voice to hear and feel deeply into our hearts.
My hope is that Mother Medicine may offer a respite and a sacred space for all those who identify as mother and those supporting mothers to connect, return to, and harness the transformation of our lived, shared, and infinite motherhood journey.
Mother Medicine is an artistic expression of both personal and collective tones and healing, offering Medicine for the Soul reclaiming the Divine Mother within all.
May Mother Medicine warm your heart, nourish your being, and remind you of the timeless connection to Spirit.
You will hear from me soon 🌿
